This design will focus on the science education problems faced by Chinese primary
school science teachers` in large classes due to the large
number of students, and discuss the education methods of Chinese primary school science teachers `and the development of diversity of thinking in class. Additionally,to address such issues, the research is also designed` to develop the concept of multicultural education along with critical thinking.

My project is about primary science education in China. During my research, I came to realize the problem faced by the teachers` and from there` I came up with the idea of collaborative workshops and` some of the new teaching materials can be used by science teachers in primary school.

Firstly, How did I come up with this project?

I experienced such education myself, and on top of that, I had one-year-experience as a science teacher in a primary school in Shenzhen as well as a three-month practice teacher working experience in STEAM subjects.

These are the innovative courses I developed for my science class. As a designer, I can easily spot the diversity in science class. Plus, seeing and thinking out of the box and putting different subjects together, you know, can shake things up and bring some changes to conventional science teaching.

During my study at Goldsmiths, I’ve been digging into and studying interdisciplinary teaching.

I think design is a collaborative practice,  as a designer, we're used to working collaboratively.  And such experience brings the idea of putting science teachers and music teachers to work collaboratively.In this case, we chose music teachers to bring in this different way of experiencing science into the classroom.

Here, I'm going to show you the different collaborative workshops and the two experiments I did, which took me months to finish. Anyway, for the collaborative experiment, I invited two science teachers and a music teacher to write three educational songs in Collaborationworkshops.

In my other workshop, the two science teachers were invited to write emotional poems after studying the scores I designed through sensory learning. 

They learn and create poetry through the sensory learning scores that I have designed.

In a word, the collaborative workshop aims to help science teachers to develop divergent thinking and put the knowledge in their field into practice. And also blend reason andsensibility through combining science and art, music and litera·ture to make changes in the way of teaching and to introduce a more diversified teaching style and content. On top of these, teachers get to learn new knowledge, say in music, apart from reflecting on their own teaching style and approach when working collaboratively with teachers from other subjects.

Finally, I have written some of the materials and textbooks for this sort of collaboration,and the songs written are already put into use in the science class in China.

Now, I'm just gonna focus here on workshop experiment one.

The most important thing about collaborative workshop is communication and share.  In the process of cooperation, we can not only treat the workshop as a learning opportunity for two educators of different disciplines but, more importantly, exchange and understand each other's knowledge field. In the process of communication, learn and reflect on strengths and weaknesses and combine them.
